Ostrich is the world largest and heaviest living bird which is flightless. Unlike all other living birds, Ostrich excrete faces separately from urine. Patna zoo has one male and one female Ostrich.

Banana, Wheat, Bajra, Gram, Moong, Maize, Poultry feed, Bread (Roti), Onion, Garlic.

It is standard diet and it varies with season to season.

Conservation Status: Least Concern
Though ostriches are the largest bird, they do not have large brains.
When the eggs hatch after 35 to 45 days incubation, the male usually defends the hatchlings and teaches them to feed, although males and females cooperate in rearing chicks
Ostriches can be very dangerous. Their legs are quite powerful, and they have been known to kill lions with a single kick.
Average life-span in captivity can be 40-50 years. They can run at 70 km/h.
Wingspan of adult is 2 meters and weight around 100 kg.
